Biography
I graduated from the University of Brussels with a Master degree in environmental bioengineering in 2022. I am currently in my second year of PhD at the MAST research group (Modeling for Aquatic Systems) under the supervision of Pr. Marilaure Grégoire at the University of Liège. I am also under joint supervision with Pr. Karline Soetaert at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). I received a FRIA-FNRS grant for my thesis on December 2023. I am interested in the effect of hypoxia (and other environmental stressors) on functional benthic biodiversity on the northwestern continental shelf of the Black Sea which is strongly affected by eutrophication leading to severe seasonal bottom hypoxia. I am aiming to introduce the variability of benthic biodiversity on current biogeochemical pelagic-benthic coupled models in order to assess the impact of the benthos on biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem services (e.g. denitrification, carbon sequestration) in a context of climate change.
